Pony Academy (Saturday Mornings)
Pony Academy is a fun and educational unmounted learning program designed to help young riders build confidence, knowledge, and strong horsemanship skills off the horse. Held on Saturday mornings, Pony Academy is free for all registered Canoe Creek students.
These sessions focus on teaching children how to safely and confidently handle, care for, and understand horses in a hands-on, interactive environment. By learning on the ground first, students develop a deeper connection with the horse and gain valuable skills that support their riding progress.
Pony Academy lessons may include:
-
Safe horse handling and leading
-
Grooming and basic horse care
-
Understanding horse behavior and body language
-
Tack knowledge and equipment care
-
Barn safety and responsibility
-
Building confidence and independence around horses
All Pony Academy sessions are taught using our Horse Sense Learning Levels program, ensuring students follow a clear, structured path as they learn and grow. Skills are introduced in an age-appropriate, engaging way that encourages curiosity, responsibility, and respect for the horse.
Pony Academy is the perfect complement to mounted lessons, helping riders become well-rounded, knowledgeable horse people — not just riders.
