Our lessons are all about having fun while building real skills, helping riders grow in confidence as they progress. Whether your child is brand new to horses or you are experienced and ready to take your riding to the next level, our program is designed to be supportive, safe, and encouraging.

We focus on teaching new and experienced riders the fundamentals using size-appropriate, well-trained ponies and horses, ensuring each rider feels comfortable and set up for success. Lessons emphasize correct basics, balance, confidence, and a positive connection with the horse.

Our experienced instructors tailor each lesson to the rider’s age, ability, and goals, creating a learning environment that is both structured and enjoyable.

We Offer:

  • Private Lessons (45 minutes)
One-on-one instruction for focused learning, confidence building, and individualized progress.

  • Semi-Private Lessons (60 minutes)
Small group lessons with 2–3 riders per session, offering personalized instruction while encouraging social learning and peer support.

  • Lead Line Riding (Ages 5+)
Perfect for young riders just starting out, with hands-on guidance to build balance, trust, and confidence in a safe and gentle way.

Horse Sense Learning Levels Program

All lessons at Canoe Creek follow our Horse Sense Learning Levels program — a structured, progressive system designed to help riders clearly understand what they’re learning, why it matters, and how to move forward.

This program breaks riding and horsemanship skills into achievable levels, allowing riders to build confidence step-by-step while developing a strong foundation both in the saddle and on the ground.

The Horse Sense Learning Levels focus on:

  • Riding fundamentals and correct position

  • Balance, control, and coordination

  • Basic horse care and horsemanship skills

  • Safety, awareness, and respect for the horse

  • Confidence, independence, and goal-setting

Riders progress at their own pace, celebrating milestones along the way and gaining a sense of accomplishment as their skills grow. This structured approach helps keep learning fun, motivating, and easy for riders and parents to follow.
