About HorseSense Learning Levels

About The Learning Levels
There are 4 tracks to the HorseSense learning program with progressive Learning Levels:
-
HorseSense - Knowledge of horses and proper horse care
-
Horsemanship - Riding proficiency
-
Horse Centered - Training based on equine psychology
-
Rainbow Level - Designed for young students under the age of 8
HorseSense Levels
The unmounted HorseSense curriculum teaches general horse knowledge and practical horse keeping skills. Our Pony Academy, which is free for all students, teaches these unmounted skills outside of regular lesson times.
All horse enthusiasts can achieve HorseSense Levels, whether they ride or not. This curriculum is best for students aged 8 and up; for younger students, we recommend the age-appropriate Rainbow Level.
Horsemanship Levels
The mounted Horsemanship curriculum covers riding skills and theory. These levels will be worked on during our regular riding lessons.
Unmounted HorseCentered Levels
The unmounted HorseCentered curriculum teaches groundwork and training theory, with an emphasis on developing relationship and considering the horse’s perspective.
These levels are taught as a supplement to regular riding lessons. This curriculum is best for students aged 10 and up who have mastered basic horse handling skills already.
Rainbow Level - For Young Riders & Beginners
Rainbow Level is a special Horsemanship Level for very young riders, ages 5-8, or for any other students who may not be able to safely complete the objectives of our regular Levels program.
This Level includes riding, horse knowledge, and simple horse care skills.
